Lorry Crane rental in Malaysia

A lorry crane is a crane mounted on a truck chassis, so it drives to site and lifts without a separate transport. It is commonly called lori kren in Malay. Typical jobs are lifting and moving machinery, air-conditioning units, steel and precast items, and unloading deliveries on sites with road access.

When is a lorry crane the right choice?

A lorry crane suits short, repeated lifts where the machine can park on a hard surface within reach of the load: unloading a delivery, setting an air-conditioning unit on a roof, moving a machine between bays. A lorry crane carries its own transport, so a small job needs no separate lowbed. A mobile crane replaces it when the lift is heavier, higher or farther than the lorry crane’s boom reaches, and a skylift replaces it when people, not loads, need to get up high.

What do you need to work out before you ask for a quote?

  • The heaviest single piece, including slings and any spreader bar.
  • The horizontal distance from where the lorry parks to where the load lands. Lifting capacity drops as that radius grows, so the headline tonnage on the truck does not apply at full reach.
  • The lift height, and what sits in the way: awnings, cables, trees.
  • Whether the lorry can park on firm, level ground with room to extend its stabilisers.

What moves the price. The quote for a lorry crane moves with the hours booked, the distance from the provider’s yard, whether an operator and a signalman come with the truck, and any waiting time on site. A booking by the half-day or day usually costs less per hour than a short call-out.

Site and ground. The lorry crane needs a firm, level standing area and clear space for stabilisers on both sides.

Which mistakes cost the most when hiring a lorry crane?

  • Booking by the tonnage on the truck instead of the capacity at the working radius.
  • Parking on a drain cover, a soft verge or a sloped driveway.
  • Leaving the signalman and rigging out of the quote and finding out on the day.

Ask every provider for the machine’s DOSH (JKKP) certificate or inspection record and a written quotation. Lifting machinery falls under the Factories and Machinery Act 1967.
