When is a skid steer loader the right choice?
A skid steer loader, often called by the brand name Bobcat, suits compact loading, clearing and levelling in confined sites. A skid steer loader turns by driving the wheels or tracks on each side at different speeds, so it works in tight space. Attachments extend its use: buckets, forks, breakers, augers.
What do you need to work out before you ask for a quote?
- The rated operating capacity against the material weight.
- The attachments the job needs.
- The ground: wheels suit firm surfaces and tracks suit soft ones.
What moves the price. A skid steer loader quote follows the machine size, the attachments, hire length and transport.
Site and ground. The machine needs room to turn and a surface that matches its wheel or track type.
Which mistakes cost the most when hiring a skid steer loader?
- Choosing wheels for soft ground.
- Hiring the machine and forgetting to list the attachment.
Ask every provider for the machine’s DOSH (JKKP) certificate or inspection record and a written quotation. Lifting machinery falls under the Factories and Machinery Act 1967.
